Day 1 : Arrive in Munich

Welcome to Munich! On arrival in the Bavarian capital, make your way to your hotel and check in for a two-night stay. Head out to get your bearings in the city, perhaps enjoying some traditional Bavarian cuisine at a traditional beer hall.

Day 2 : Munich

Spend a full day in Munich, exploring the many famous sights and attractions of the Alpine city.


Explore the Marienplatz at the heart of the city and take in the city views from the top of the Town Hall. Uncover the legend behind the Teufelstritt (Devil's Footstep) or you might also like to take a tour of the renowned Deutsches Museum.


Of course, no visit to Munich is complete without a visit to a beer hall! The Hofbräuhaus am Platzl is undoubtedly the most famous of these, where you can sample some Weisswürste (white sausage) or Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) with your Mass (litre glass) of beer.

Day 3 : Munich to Salzburg

Spend another morning in Munich before taking the train to Salzburg.


On arrival in Salzburg, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Salzburg is your first taste of Austria, the mountains…The Sound of Music! Try the restaurants on the right side of the river around Linzergasse for a real taste of Salzburg.


For an adventure into Austrian beer you will need to head for the atmospheric Mullner Brewery - known officially as the Augustiner Braustubel.

Day 4 :  Salzburg

Enjoy an additional day discovering Salzburg at your leisure. Perhaps visit the birthplace of Mozart, now a museum dedicated to his life and work showcasing various fascinating exhibits.

The city's Baroque Old Town is UNESCO World Heritage listed and dominated by the massive Festung Hohensalzburg, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe.

Day 5 :  Salzburg to Vienna

After breakfast this morning, take the scenic train ride from Salzburg to Vienna.


Be sure to have your camera ready as you pass through some of the most beautiful parts of Austria.


On arrival in Vienna, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Perhaps spend the afternoon indulging in some delicious Sachertorte or head to the Gothic St Stephen's Cathedral, one of the city's most famous landmarks.

Day 6 :  Vienna

After breakfast this morning, spend the day exploring beautiful Vienna.


Much of Viennese cultural life can be found in the Museumsquartier, home to an array of museums, cafes and restaurants within a former imperial stable building.


Why not enjoy an operatic experience to remember at the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), or view the works of famous painters such as Rubens and Raphael at the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Fine Arts).


Take in a performance at the Spanish Riding School - one of the oldest riding schools in the world and home to the famous Lipizzaner horses.


Vienna also sits on the banks of the Danube, the perfect spot for a scenic boat cruise! And if you are interested in history, follow in the footsteps of the Habsburgs with a visit to the baroque Belvedere and Schönbrunn Palaces.

Day 7 :  Depart Vienna

After breakfast this morning, check out of your hotel and continue with your onward travels.
